Origin of Ancient Music

Music is known as the art of Phoebus and took its name by the nine Muses. It's already known that ancient people used instruments to produce music. Instruments as lyra, kithara, avlos, harp were known in ancient Greece. Human voice played also a major role and it was the first instrument that was used by man, in order to immitate birds.

However we don't know exactly when and why people started to sing and play music. The only sure is that music somehow affects human psychism, causing them emotions. Since antiquity few elements about music have been saved.
